VICTORY OVER THE PAST
TESTAMENT OF GRACE GLOBAL ASSEMBLY (GRACE REVIVAL CENTRE)
LIFELINES DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19,2026
TOPIC:VICTORY OVER THE PAST
BIBLE VERSE
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV)
MEDITATION
Yesterday’s wounds and failures may be part of your story, but they do not have to become the prison of your destiny. Paul had a painful past, including his persecution of the church, yet he refused to remain trapped by what he had done; instead, he focused on God’s purpose ahead and pressed toward the mark (1 Timothy 1:13–16; Philippians 3:6–8). Peter also failed Jesus through his threefold denial, but Christ restored him and entrusted him with a renewed assignment (John 21:15–17). Likewise, Isaiah 43:18–19 says, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing.” Do not allow yesterday’s disappointment to steal today’s faith or tomorrow’s hope. Receive God’s forgiveness, learn from your experiences, release what cannot be changed, and keep moving toward the purpose God has placed before you. Your past may explain where you have been, but through God’s grace, it does not determine where you are going.
PRAYER
Father, thank You for the grace to move beyond my past. Heal my wounds, forgive my failures, and give me courage to release what is behind me. Help me press forward with faith and fulfil the purpose You have prepared for my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
