FREE TO FORGIVE

TESTAMENT OF GRACE GLOBAL ASSEMBLY (GRACE REVIVAL CENTRE)
LIFELINES DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY OCTOBER 10,2026
TOPIC:FREE TO FORGIVE
BIBLE VERSE
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”-Matthew 6:14–15 (NIV)
MEDITATION
Forgiveness is not a sign of weakness but an expression of the grace we have received from God through Christ. Jesus teaches that forgiveness must be a defining characteristic of His followers, even when the wounds inflicted by others are painful and undeserved. Stephen provides a powerful example of this truth when he was being stoned to death for his faith; instead of demanding judgment against his persecutors, he prayed, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them” (Acts 7:60). Stephen’s response reflected the heart of Jesus, who prayed for His executioners while hanging on the cross. As Christians, we are called to forgive not because the offence was insignificant or the offender deserves our kindness, but because we have experienced God’s mercy and must extend that same mercy to others. Forgiveness releases us from the prison of resentment and allows God’s love to govern our hearts, even when reconciliation requires time and restored trust must be earned.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving me through Christ. Give me the grace to release every offence, overcome resentment, and forgive those who have hurt me. Heal my wounded heart and help me reflect Your love and mercy in every relationship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
