FREE FROM BITTERNESS

TESTAMENT OF GRACE GLOBAL ASSEMBLY (GRACE REVIVAL CENTRE)

LIFELINES DEVOTIONAL FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8,2026

TOPIC:FREE FROM BITTERNESS

BIBLE VERSE
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”-Ephesians 4:31–32 (NIV)

MEDITATION
Bitterness takes root when we continually nurture the pain caused by others, allowing yesterday’s wounds to poison today’s relationships and steal our peace. However, God offers us freedom by teaching us to release our hurts and extend the forgiveness we have received through Christ. Joseph provides a powerful example of this freedom: after his brothers betrayed him and sold him into slavery, he eventually rose to a position of authority in Egypt, where he had the power to punish them. Instead, he forgave them, provided for their needs, and recognized God’s greater purpose in his painful experiences, declaring, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good” (Genesis 50:20). Joseph did not deny the evil committed against him; he simply refused to let it determine the condition of his heart. Likewise, believers can overcome bitterness by surrendering their wounds to God, choosing forgiveness, and trusting Him to bring good even out of painful experiences.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, deliver my heart from bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness. Heal every wound I have carried, give me the grace to forgive those who have hurt me, and help me walk in the freedom, peace, and compassion of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
