Bible VERSE:
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.”-Romans 6:6
MEDITATION
The death of Christ did not only secure forgiveness for our sins; it also broke the dominion that sin once exercised over our lives. The apostle Peter is a powerful example of this transformation. Before Christ’s resurrection, Peter denied Jesus three times out of fear, but after being filled with the Holy Spirit, he boldly proclaimed Christ before the same kind of opposition he had once feared. His circumstances had not become easier, but the power controlling him had changed. In Christ, believers are no longer helpless slaves to sinful desires because the old nature has been crucified with Christ, and we have been given the grace and power to choose righteousness. Sin may still attempt to entice us, but it no longer has the right to rule us.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for breaking the power of sin over my life. Help me to walk daily in the freedom You have given me, refusing every sinful desire and choosing righteousness through the power of Your Spirit. Amen.
