FREE FROM THE PRISON OF THE PAST
TESTAMENT OF GRACE GLOBAL ASSEMBLY (GRACE REVIVAL CENTRE)
LIFELINES DEVOTIONAL FOR WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7,2026
TOPIC:FREE FROM THE PRISON OF THE PAST
BIBLE VERSE
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”-Isaiah 43:18–19
MEDITATION
The past can become a prison when we continually relive yesterday’s failures, disappointments, wounds, or achievements and allow them to determine what we believe God can do today. Joseph provides a powerful example of someone whom God delivered from the prison of his past. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned, Joseph could have allowed those experiences to define his identity, yet God raised him from the prison to become Egypt’s governor and used his painful journey to preserve many lives. His past remained part of his story, but it did not control his destiny. In the same way, God can make a new way for us even when our history seems impossible to overcome; we must therefore stop allowing yesterday to imprison our faith and begin discerning the new thing God is doing in our lives.
PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from every prison created by my past. Heal my wounds, release me from regret, and give me faith to recognize and embrace the new thing You are doing in my life. Let my past become a testimony rather than a prison. Amen.
